BAC-IVT
BAC-IVT Invisa Hatch Drywall Inlay for Wall Tiling
Constructed with a welded high-grade aluminum frame and moisture- and mildew-resistant drywall inlay, the BAC-IVT Invisa Hatch Drywall Inlay for Wall Tiling is built for durability. The inlay supports direct tile application and works with ½" and ⅝" drywall systems.
This access panel is intended for wall installations only. It provides concealed access to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components. Once tiled and grouted, it blends cleanly into the finished surface.
The door operates using concealed touch latches and opens from top to bottom. Access panels measuring 12" x 12" and larger include safety chains for added security during servicing. The panel features a 3 mm (⅛") perimeter reveal and requires a rough opening equal to the door size plus ⅜" on each side. Custom sizing options are available to align with project-specific layouts.

Why Should You Use the BAC-IVT?
- Ready for Tile Application: Installers can tile directly into the drywall inlay, creating a seamless finish that hides the access panel. The narrow ⅛" reveal further enhances this by maintaining grout alignment.
- Designed for Easy Installation: The detachable door can be tiled separately from the frame. This improves handling and tile alignment during installation. It also simplifies adjustments before final placement.
- Built for Moisture-Prone and Humid Areas: The moisture- and mildew-resistant inlay withstands wet and humid environments. It won't deteriorate in washrooms, kitchens, and similar places.
- Configured for Secure Access: Concealed touch latches eliminate visible hardware on the finished surface. Safety chains on larger panels add protection during servicing, especially when tile adds weight.
- Available for Custom Sizing: Custom sizes are available to match tile layouts and access requirements. This reduces the need for field modifications and oversized panels.
Installation Instructions
- Locate and Measure: Identify the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side to determine the opening size.
- Mark and Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular baselines on the wall or ceiling, 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Mark the opposite sides, verify all lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Fit the Frame: Remove the door hatch and fit the frame separately. When installing into a wall, position the unit with the latches at the top. Pass the frame through the opening and pull it firmly into place. Drive screws into the panel frame, no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
- Apply the Tile: Confirm the door opens correctly, then apply tile separately to the hatch and wall.
- Attach the Safety Cable: Wipe the frame and door with a damp cloth to remove any grout residue, then secure the safety cable.
