BAC-F2
BAC-F2 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch
The BAC-F2 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch is a welded aluminum access door designed for seamless integration into non-rated drywall walls and ceilings. It features a flush inlay design with a precise 1/16" reveal for minimal visual interruption in finished spaces.
The panel accommodates ½" and ⅝" drywall and includes a standard moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard insert. Its fully detachable hatch, supported by an open hinge system, allows complete removal when full access to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems is required.
With standard touch latches and optional keyed or cam lock configurations, the BAC-F2 supports controlled access across a range of commercial and institutional applications.

Why Should You Use the BAC-F2?
- Seamless Drywall Integration: The 1/16" reveal and concealed hardware let the panel sit flush with the surrounding drywall. Once taped and painted, it blends into walls and ceilings without visible seams.
- Complete Hatch Removal: The open-hinge design lets you lift the entire hatch out, providing clear access to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This makes inspection, servicing, and retrofit tasks easier without having to work around the door.
- Durable Construction: The welded aluminum frame provides long-term strength, while the moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard withstands humid areas such as washrooms, utility spaces, and service corridors.
- Flexible Security Options: Standard touch latches and safety chains control access during regular use. Add keyed or cam locks for restricted-access areas in institutional and multi-unit buildings.
- Scalable Sizing: With standard sizes and custom single- and double-door configurations available, the BAC-F2 accommodates a wide range of opening dimensions without compromising finish quality or accessibility.
Installation Instructions
- Locate and Measure: Identify the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add ¾" (9mm) to each side to determine the rough opening.
- Mark and Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular baselines on the wall or ceiling, keeping them 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Verify all lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Fasten the Panel: Pass the access panel through the opening and pull it firmly into place. Drive screws through the drywall into the panel frame, spacing them no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
- Test the Door and Apply Compound: Confirm the door opens correctly, then apply drywall compound separately to the hatch and wall.
- Attach the Safety Cable: Wipe the frame and door clean with a damp cloth and install the safety cable.
