BAC-IVH
BAC-IVH Invisa Hatch Drywall Inlay with Fully Detachable Hatch
The BAC-IVH Invisa Hatch Drywall Inlay with Fully Detachable Hatch is a non-rated aluminum access panel designed for flush installation in drywall walls and ceilings. Built with a welded, high-grade aluminum frame and door, the panel features a drywall inlay with a minimal 1/16" reveal. This design lets the panel blend seamlessly into finished surfaces while maintaining reliable access.
The hatch is fully detachable via its open-hinge design, providing unrestricted access to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. For controlled operation, touch latches and safety cables manage door movement during maintenance.
Compatible with ½" and ⅝" drywall, the BAC-IVH comes standard with moisture- and mould-resistant greenboard for humid environments. When closed, a perimeter foam gasket creates a tight seal. Both standard and custom sizes are available for wall and ceiling applications.

Why Should You Use the BAC-IVH?
- Blends Into Drywall: The 1/16" reveal and concealed hardware let the panel sit nearly flush within drywall assemblies. When painted, the hatch disappears into the surrounding surface.
- Detaches for Full Access: Trades can fully detach the hatch when full access is required. This provides clear working space for inspections, upgrades, or repairs to MEP services behind the surface.
- Delivers Long-Term Durability: Welded aluminum construction resists corrosion and distortion over time. Additionally, the mould-resistant greenboard inlay handles humid conditions in commercial and multi-residential projects.
- Provides Controlled Access: Touch latches provide quick access without visible hardware. Safety cables help manage door movement during servicing, and optional locking mechanisms are available where restricted access is required.
- Accommodates Custom Sizes: With standard and custom dimensions available, the BAC-IVH adapts to a wide range of wall and ceiling openings. It accommodates ½" and ⅝" drywall, making specification and installation straightforward across different project types.
Installation Instructions
- Find and Measure the Location: Mark the installation spot and note the positions of nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add ¾" (9mm) to each side to get the opening size.
- Cut the Opening: Draw two 90° baselines on the wall or ceiling, 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Check that all lines are square, then cut a clean opening using a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Mount the Panel: Slide the access panel through the opening and pull it back firmly into position. Fasten screws through the drywall into the panel frame, no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
- Apply the Compound: Open the door to confirm it swings freely, then apply drywall compound separately to the hatch and wall.
- Secure the Safety Cable: Attach the safety cable, then clean the frame and door with a damp cloth.
