BAC-IVHFH

BAC-IVHFH Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fixed Hinges

The BAC-IVHFH Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fixed Hinges is a non-rated aluminum access door that installs flush in drywall walls and ceilings. With concealed hardware and a recessed panel for ½" or ⅝" drywall, it provides invisible access to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

A narrow 1/16" reveal between frames creates a clean line after taping and painting. Touch latches allow push-to-open operation, while integrated safety cables control door movement during servicing.

Fixed hinges allow the door to swing left, right, or downward in wall applications, providing installation flexibility to suit site conditions. Custom sizing is also available up to 60" on one side, with a maximum perimeter of 160", accommodating a wide range of project requirements.

Why Should You Use the BAC-IVHFH?

  • Delivers a Flush Finish: The recessed drywall inlay design and concealed hardware allow the panel to blend seamlessly into finished drywall surfaces. Once taped and painted, only a subtle 1/16" reveal remains visible.
  • Offers Installation Flexibility: Fixed hinges allow the door to open left, right, or downward in wall installations, making it easier to work around framing and service access points. For ceilings, latch placement can be positioned for better reach and operation.
  • Withstands Commercial Use: Constructed from high-grade aluminum, the BAC-IVHFH provides durability. It’s suitable for commercial offices, healthcare facilities, institutional buildings, multi-residential developments, and other projects where performance and appearance must align.
  • Provides Controlled and Secure Access: Concealed touch latches eliminate visible hardware while maintaining easy service access. Additionally, safety cables prevent uncontrolled door swing during maintenance, and optional locks add security when needed.
  • Meets Custom Project Requirements: Available in standard and custom sizes up to 60" on one side (160" maximum perimeter), the panel fits unique opening dimensions without compromising your design.

Installation Instructions

  1. Find and Measure the Location: Mark the installation spot and note the positions of nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side for the rough opening size.
  2. Cut the Opening: Draw two 90° baselines on the wall or ceiling, 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Check that all lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
  3. Install the Panel: Slide the access panel through the opening and pull it back firmly into position. Fasten screws through the drywall into the panel frame, no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
  4. Test and Apply the Compound: Test that the door opens freely, then apply drywall compound around the frame. Wipe down the frame and door with a damp cloth once the compound has dried.
  5. Attach the Safety Cable: Install the safety cable to finish the installation.
