BAC-F3 Drywall Inlay Access Panel for Wall Tiling

The BAC-F3 Drywall Inlay Access Panel for Wall Tiling is a recessed, removable wall access panel designed for integration within tiled wall assemblies. It provides concealed access to mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems while maintaining the integrity of the finished surface.

The unit consists of a welded aluminum frame and a drywall inlay constructed with moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard. Once installed and tiled, the panel aligns with surrounding grout lines to maintain a continuous, hardware-free appearance.

Compatible with ½" and ⅝" drywall, the BAC-F3 is intended for wall installations in commercial, institutional, and multi-residential projects. The fully removable door operates using concealed touch latches and includes safety chains for controlled maintenance access.

Standard sizes range from 8" x 8" to 24" x 24". For projects requiring larger openings, architects, contractors, and property owners can request custom sizes up to 24" x 36".

Why Should You Use the BAC-F3?

  • Maintains Tile and Grout Alignment: The drywall inlay allows tile to be applied directly to its surface, keeping grout lines continuous and the access panel blending into the tiled surface.
  • Withstands High-Humidity Environments: The moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard core supports reliable performance in washrooms, commercial kitchens, and other damp interior applications.
  • Simplifies Installation and Finishing: The removable panel can be tiled separately from the frame, making alignment easier and reducing on-site adjustments.
  • Provides Controlled Service Access: Concealed touch latches eliminate visible hardware, while integrated safety chains prevent sudden door movement during maintenance.
  • Supports Custom Sizing: Standard and custom dimensions let you match mechanical openings and wall layouts.

Installation Instructions

  1. Locate and Measure: Identify the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side to determine the opening size.
  2. Mark and Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular baselines on the wall or ceiling, 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Mark the opposite sides, verify all lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
  3. Fit the Frame: Remove the door hatch and fit the frame separately. When installing into a wall, position the unit with the latches at the top. Pass the frame through the opening and pull it firmly into place. Drive screws into the panel frame, no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
  4. Apply the Tile: Confirm the door opens correctly, then apply the tile separately to the hatch and wall.
  5. Attach the Safety Cable: Wipe the frame and door with a damp cloth to remove any grout residue, then secure the safety cable.
