BAC-F1
BAC-F1 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fixed Hinges
The BAC-F1 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fixed Hinges is a flush drywall access panel constructed with a welded aluminum frame. It is designed for installation in drywall wall and ceiling assemblies requiring concealed access.
The panel features high-grade aluminum inner and outer frames with a 1/16" reveal between frames. It is compatible with ½" (12.7 mm) and ⅝" (15.8 mm) drywall and is supplied ready to paint. The panel is suitable for both wall and ceiling installations.
The BAC-F1 uses fixed hinges with touch latches and integrated safety chains for controlled access. Wall installations support left-to-right, right-to-left, or top-to-bottom opening orientations. Larger openings are available in a double-door configuration that maintains a flush, concealed appearance.

Why Should You Use the BAC-F1?
- Flush, Concealed Integration: The BAC-F1 is designed to sit flush within finished drywall surfaces. Its 1/16" reveal allows the panel to blend into walls and ceilings once painted, without exposed trim or hardware.
- Flexible Installation Options: The panel is suitable for both wall and ceiling installations and supports multiple opening orientations in wall applications. This flexibility allows installers to adapt to framing, clearance, and site constraints.
- Controlled, Safe Access: Touch latches provide quick access, while integrated safety chains help control door movement during opening. Optional lock upgrades are available for areas requiring restricted access.
- Large Opening Options: For access requirements beyond standard sizes, the BAC-F1 is available in a double-door configuration. This option maintains a flush appearance while providing a wide, unobstructed opening without a centre bar.
- Custom Size Availability: Single-leaf and double-door configurations are available in custom sizes, allowing the panel to be specified to match project-specific access requirements.
Installation Instructions
- Locate and Measure: Choose the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side to determine the rough opening size.
- Mark and Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular baselines on the wall or ceiling, keeping them 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Verify all lines are square, then cut a clean opening using a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Fasten the Panel: Pass the access panel through the opening and pull it firmly into place. Drive screws through the drywall into the panel frame, spacing them no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
- Test and Apply the Compound: Confirm the door opens correctly, then apply drywall compound around the frame. Once dry, wipe the frame and door clean with a damp cloth.
- Attach the Safety Cable: Secure the safety cable to complete the installation.
When concealed access and a clean drywall finish are required, the BAC-F1 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fixed Hinges offers a practical solution for wall and ceiling applications. Its welded aluminum construction, flush integration, and controlled access features make it suitable for commercial, institutional, and multi-unit residential projects.
